Find your footing as a parent—even after the medical storm.
When your child has medical needs, it’s not “post-traumatic stress.” It’s ongoing traumatic stress that seeps into everyday life. You’re juggling appointments, hours in waiting rooms, waiting for news, holding everything together, and trying not to lose yourself in the process. Coaching gives you space to breathe, tools to steady yourself, and support to feel strong as a parent and as a family—even when the medical journey never really ends.
It’s not just about your child’s care—it’s about yours, too.
You need to be well for the long haul.
When your child has medical needs, it’s easy to put yourself last. The appointments, the hospital stays, the constant juggling—it can wear you down until you’re just running on empty. But you matter too. Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish; it’s the only way you can stay strong for the journey ahead. Coaching gives you the tools, support, and space you need to stay steady—not just for your child, but for you.

Learn to talk, listen, and rebuild trust — even when life looks completely different from what you imagined.

Evidence-based workshops that blend compassion, psychology, and practical connection skills.
When a Medical Diagnosis Changes Everything — You Still Have a Way to Connect.
Pregnancy Dialogues helps you build calm, connection, and confidence before your baby arrives.
When your baby’s health is uncertain, pregnancy can stop feeling like yours.
You become a patient, a decision-maker, a worrier — everything but a parent who gets to bond and dream.
Pregnancy Dialogues helps you take that back.
It’s a gentle, research-backed program that guides you to:
– Create a sense of safety and connection with your baby, even in uncertainty.
– Use evidence-based calming techniques to support both your body and your baby’s development.
– Strengthen communication and connection with your partner before things get more complex.
About Mathilde
Parent Coach | Facilitator | Researcher
I’m Mathilde, a parent support coach and group facilitator with over 20 years of experience walking alongside families in the medical system. I’ve stepped into hundreds of living rooms, holding space for parents in their hardest moments—with empathy, courage, and calm. My work centres on helping parents bond with their baby before birth, steady themselves through pregnancy and NICU, and find their way forward as a family. I’m not afraid of big emotions or difficult stories; my role is to create a safe, supportive space where parents feel seen, connected, and equipped for the journey ahead.
My Approach
Parenting a baby with medical needs isn’t something anyone prepares you for. The hospital cares for your child’s body—but who looks after you?
My approach is gentle, not overwhelming. We start with connection: to your baby, to yourself, to your family. I bring a steady presence from 20+ years alongside families, unafraid of big emotions or hard conversations.
Each session gives you something practical you can use right away—whether it’s a calming ritual, a bonding practice, or the words for your medical team. My role isn’t to fix you, but to steady and support you.
My Process
My process is simple and steady. Every session begins by slowing down—through a breathing ritual or guided relaxation—so you feel calm enough to connect. From there, we focus on what matters most to you right now: bonding with your baby, preparing for birth, navigating NICU, or balancing family life.
I guide the conversation gently, bringing questions and reflections that help you see new possibilities without feeling overwhelmed. You’ll always leave with something practical to hold onto—a ritual, a phrase, a tool—that makes tomorrow lighter. Step by step, we build connection, resilience, and space for you to breathe again.
Unique Framework
Inspired by the Te Whare Tapa Whā model, my work supports every side of your whare—not just the medical or practical.
-
Body (Taha Tinana): Breathing, relaxation, and rituals that calm your nervous system.
-
Mind & Heart (Taha Hinengaro): Space to process fears, hopes, and emotions.
-
Family (Taha Whānau): Practices that strengthen bonds with baby, partner, and whānau.
-
Spirit (Taha Wairua): Exploring values and meaning to stay grounded through uncertainty.
Each session brings balance across these four walls, leaving you more connected, steady, and prepared.
Pregnancy is a busy time of life, both physically and mentally. By dedicating the time for this course I felt better prepared for the birth of our beautiful baby. The relaxation techniques were beneficial during pregnancy, labour and even today. By learning to stop and connect with my baby I was able to refocus on what was important.
Mathilde just has this really warm, respectful way about her. The sessions made me slow down and actually connect with my baby in the womb—it wasn’t something I’d ever thought about before. It made me realise how much my own behaviour shapes our relationship as a family. The classes were super friendly and welcoming, and I’ve even made some beautiful friendships along the way.

I’ve Been Wanting to tell You
You’ve been strong for a very long time.
Strong in ways you didn’t choose, but had to become.
And being strong like that — for months, for years — does something to your body. A note written to a friend about strength, the body, and what happens when holding it all together has gone on too long — with one honest question at the end.
Always ‘on’: What parents carry when a child’s health is uncertain.
He called me one Thurday afternoon. A dad from up north. He’d been part of one of our parent gatherings a few months earlier, and something had stayed with him. “What that other dad said,” he told me, “about always being on edge — like a wound-up toy — it really hit...
Parenting a Preschooler Through Medical Complexity
The questions I often hear are usually along the lines of: “We’ve tried everything.” “The behaviour has completely changed, the specialist doesn't have an answer.” “We have to do something — where can we go?” And I can't help but notice what sits underneath those...
